SaaS PPC Services

SaaS PPC services measured in customers, not clicks

Paid search and paid social for software companies, planned around how you actually sell, whether that’s demos, trials or self serve sign ups. We keep budgets on searches and audiences that can buy, connect campaigns to your CRM where possible, and report on qualified pipeline as well as platform numbers.

Why SaaS PPC is different

A click is the start of a long road

Most ad platforms only see the first steps. In SaaS, the real result happens weeks or months later, in your product or your CRM. Good PPC management connects the two, so budget follows customers rather than form fills.

  1. 1ClickSomeone clicks an ad
  2. 2LeadForm, demo request or sign up
  3. 3QualifiedMatches your customer profile
  4. 4Demo or trialMeeting held or product used
  5. 5CustomerPays for a plan

Competitive searches

Software searches can be competitive, so irrelevant clicks add up quickly.

Several people decide

The person who clicks may not be the one who signs. Messaging and targeting have to reach the buying group.

Long sales cycles

A lead from this month may close next quarter, so judging campaigns on last week’s numbers misleads.

Leads are not all equal

Students, job seekers and tiny teams can fill a form. A cheaper lead isn’t a better one.

Your model, your goal

One goal doesn’t fit every SaaS business

A qualified demo is the win for one company, a trial that turns into a paid plan for another. We start by agreeing which conversion actually matters to you, then build campaigns and measurement around it.

Sales led

Main conversion
Demo or meeting request
What we optimise toward
Qualified pipeline and cost per qualified opportunity
Channels that often fit
Search on high intent terms, LinkedIn for reaching specific roles
Watch out for
Optimising for any form fill and flooding sales with poor fits

Product led

Main conversion
Trial or free sign up
What we optimise toward
Activation and trial to paid conversion
Channels that often fit
Search, with retargeting where it’s allowed and useful
Watch out for
Counting sign ups that never use the product

Self serve

Main conversion
Paid subscription
What we optimise toward
Cost per paying customer and payback
Channels that often fit
Search, sometimes Microsoft Advertising for extra reach
Watch out for
Spending more per customer than a low price plan can return

Enterprise

Main conversion
Meeting with a target account
What we optimise toward
Engagement and pipeline from named accounts
Channels that often fit
LinkedIn and search with company and role targeting
Watch out for
Expecting quick results from long, multi person deals

Channels

Chosen by evidence, not by habit

Not every SaaS company should advertise everywhere. The right mix depends on your buyers, sales cycle, budget and how much conversion data you have. Most start with one or two channels and add more once the basics work.

Google Ads

Best at reaching
People searching for a solution, a category or a competitor right now.
How we use it
Search campaigns built around intent, with other campaign types only when they suit your goal and data.
Trade off
Broad keywords and automated campaigns can spend on poor searches without close watching.

Microsoft Advertising

Best at reaching
Extra search reach, including business users on the Microsoft network.
How we use it
It can use LinkedIn profile data such as company, industry and job function to adjust bids on search ads.
Trade off
Lower volume than Google, so it suits proven campaigns more than first tests.

LinkedIn Ads

Best at reaching
Specific professional roles, seniority levels, industries and company sizes.
How we use it
Useful when the buyer is defined by job and company rather than by what they search.
Trade off
Clicks can cost more and intent is usually lower than search, so offers and follow up matter more.

Other channels

Best at reaching
Retargeting, video or other networks for particular audiences.
How we use it
Added only when there’s a clear reason, such as warming up visitors who didn’t convert.
Trade off
More channels split a limited budget and make results harder to read.

PPC means pay per click, but not every campaign charges per click. Some channels and campaign types charge per impression or other actions, so we look at cost against the outcome, not just the bidding model.

Keyword intent

High volume isn’t high value

Search terms show what people actually typed before clicking your ad. Reviewing them regularly is one of the most practical ways to cut wasted spend, especially with broader match types that reach related searches.

  • Exact matchSearches with the same meaning. Most control, least reach.
  • Phrase matchSearches that include the meaning of your keyword. A middle ground.
  • Broad matchRelated searches too. Most reach, needs good conversion data and close review.
  • Negative keywordsSearches you exclude so your ads don’t show for them.

Measurement

Which numbers matter, and what each can’t tell you

Not every metric is available or useful for every SaaS business. A campaign with fewer leads can be worth more if those leads turn into customers. We agree the measures that fit your model, then report platform numbers and business results separately.

MetricWhat it tells youBe careful because
CTR and CPCWhether ads are relevant and what each click costsSays nothing about who clicked or what happened next
Cost per leadWhat a form fill or sign up costsCheap leads can be poor fits
Cost per qualified leadWhat a lead that matches your customer profile costsNeeds an agreed definition and CRM data
Cost per demo or trialWhat it costs to start a real sales or product conversationTrials only matter if people activate
Trial to paid rateHow many trials become paying customersDepends on the product as much as the ads
CAC and paybackWhat it costs to win a customer and how long to earn it backNeeds reliable revenue data and agreed rules for shared costs
Pipeline and ROASOpportunity value or revenue linked to campaignsAttribution is never perfect, especially across long cycles

Connecting campaigns to your CRM

Google Ads can import offline conversions, and enhanced conversions for leads uses hashed first party data from your CRM to report which ad leads went on to become qualified or closed. Similar options exist on other platforms. Where your setup supports it, we use this so bidding and reporting can follow real outcomes.

Consent and privacy

Tracking is set up to respect consent choices, privacy laws and platform policies, which can mean some conversions aren’t observed. We document those gaps rather than hide them.

How it works

Fees and responsibilities

What you pay for, and who does what

Management fees and advertising spend are separate. You get a written scope, timeline and price before work starts.

Covered by our management fee

  • Audit, strategy and campaign planning
  • Campaign setup and ongoing management
  • Search term, keyword and budget work
  • Ad copy and tests
  • Landing page recommendations
  • Tracking review and reporting

Paid to the ad platforms

  • Your advertising spend, billed by Google, Microsoft or LinkedIn
  • Kept in ad accounts you own
  • Never included in our fee

Your team

  • Product knowledge and approvals
  • Sales feedback on lead quality
  • CRM and site changes we can’t make ourselves

Optional, scoped separately

  • Landing page design and development
  • Tracking implementation that needs developer work
  • Creative production such as video

What influences costs and results

  • How competitive your keywords and audiences are
  • Your budget and how much conversion data it produces
  • Your product, pricing and sales cycle
  • Landing page quality and sales follow up
  • Tracking quality and CRM data
  • Changes in the platforms themselves

What PPC can’t promise

No one can guarantee a cost per click, a number of leads, a lower CAC or profitable campaigns from day one. Campaigns need enough data to learn from, and results depend on much more than the ads. We commit to careful management, clear reasoning and honest reporting.
