SaaS SEO Service

AEO for B2B SaaS that helps AI answers get your product right

Buyers now ask AI tools which software fits their problem. We test the questions your buyers ask, see where you’re mentioned, cited or missing, and fix the content, technical and product information gaps behind those answers. Clear work and honest tracking, with no promised placements.

Why it matters for SaaS

Where AI answers meet a B2B buying journey

Software buyers ask AI tools at every stage, from understanding a problem to checking whether a product supports single sign on. Each stage needs different information from you, and a gap at any one of them can keep you off the shortlist.

  1. Stage 1

    Problem framing

Example questionwhy do invoice approvals slow down agency billing
    What the answer needs
A clear explanation of the problem, written by people who understand it
    Pages that support it
    Guides and educational articles
  2. Stage 2

    Solution research

Example questionhow can agencies automate invoice approvals
    What the answer needs
Plain descriptions of the approach and where your product fits
    Pages that support it
    Use case and solution pages
  3. Stage 3

    Shortlist and comparison

Example questionbest invoice approval tools for agencies
    What the answer needs
Accurate category, audience and differentiators, consistent across sources
    Pages that support it
    Feature, comparison and integration pages
  4. Stage 4

    Validation

Example questiondoes YourProduct support SSO and audit logs
    What the answer needs
Specific, current facts on security, pricing, integrations and limits
    Pages that support it
Docs, security, pricing and FAQ pages

Most B2B purchases still involve demos, trials, sales calls and several people. AI answers are one input among many, which is why AEO works best as part of your wider search and content program.

Definitions

AEO, SEO and GEO in plain terms

There is no single agreed definition of AEO or GEO, and agencies use the terms differently. This is how we use them, and why they overlap more than they differ.

TermMain goalWhere the work goesHow it’s measured
SEORanking pages in search results and earning clicksTechnical health, relevant pages, links and search intentRankings, clicks, conversions
AEOBeing the clear, correct answer to specific questionsDirect answers, product and company clarity, consistent facts, answer testingMentions, citations and accuracy for a tested question set
GEOBeing one of the sources an AI system draws on for a generated responseSource credibility, third party coverage, how assistants describe your categoryPresence across generated answers and the sources they use

SEO is the foundation, not the competition

Google says pages need to be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and that no special markup or AI text files are needed. ChatGPT search and Perplexity rely on their own crawlers being allowed to reach your site. So crawlable, well structured, accurate pages come first. AEO adds answer testing, product clarity and source consistency on top. For a dedicated look at generated answers and third party sources, see GEO for SaaS.

Setting expectations

What AEO means here, and what it doesn’t

There’s a lot of noise around AI search. This is the line we draw.

What we do

  • Make your pages answer real buyer questions clearly and accurately
  • Describe your product, audience, use cases and limits consistently
  • Keep important content crawlable and readable as text
  • Test a documented question set and track what changes
  • Fix outdated or wrong information wherever it lives on your site

What we won’t do

  • Promise you’ll appear in ChatGPT, AI Overviews or Perplexity
  • Treat schema markup or AI text files as a shortcut to citations
  • Mass produce thin FAQ pages to chase questions
  • Create fake reviews, profiles or planted mentions
  • Judge success from one screenshot of one answer

What an engagement includes

Eight areas of work, scoped to your product

Not every SaaS company needs all eight. A product with strong content but a confusing category needs different work from one with great positioning and pages search engines can’t read. Open any area for the details.

We separate recommendations, implementation and outcomes. Your written scope says which areas we advise on, which we implement, and which your team owns.

Product clarity

Can anyone tell what you actually sell?

Answer engines and buyers both piece your product together from many places. When your site says one thing, your review profile another and an old partner listing a third, the answer gets vague or wrong. We check the core facts everywhere they appear.

  • Consistent
  • Vague
  • Wrong or outdated
  • Missing

Consistent facts reduce confusion. They don’t guarantee recognition or a citation from any particular engine.

How we test answers

One screenshot proves nothing

AI answers change with the date, the wording, the location and the account asking. A single impressive screenshot can mislead you in either direction. This is how we keep testing honest.

A documented question set

Questions drawn from sales calls, support tickets, search data and your positioning, grouped by buying stage.

Agreed engines

Which answer engines and modes we test, chosen for your buyers rather than every tool on the market.

Logged conditions

Date, location, signed in or out, and the exact wording, because each one can change the answer.

Repeated runs

Answers vary from run to run, so key questions are asked more than once and wording variations are tested.

What we record

Mentions, citations, linked sources, competitors named and whether the description of your product is accurate.

Patterns, not proof

We report what we observe. When something changes, we say what we did and avoid claiming cause where we can’t show it.

Many monitoring tools sample answers and estimate visibility. They’re useful for trends, but they aren’t complete measurements, and some answers show no sources at all. We tell you which numbers come from which method.

Measurement and expectations

What we report, and what we can’t promise

Google includes clicks from AI Overviews and AI Mode in the overall web search data in Search Console, so they aren’t reported separately there. That’s why answer tests and search data sit side by side in our reports.

No one can honestly promise

  • A place in any specific AI answer
  • Citations, traffic, leads or revenue
  • That every engine works the same way
  • That a change in mentions caused a change in pipeline
1

Answer tests

Mentions, citations, linked sources, description accuracy and competitors, for the same questions and engines over time

2

Search performance

Organic visibility, clicks and the landing pages people reach from search, including AI features where search tools report them

3

Work completed

Pages updated, facts corrected, technical fixes shipped, so results can be read against changes

4

Next steps

What we learned and what to prioritise in the next period

More mentions don’t automatically mean more traffic or leads. Answers often satisfy the question without a click, so we connect visibility to the conversions and pipeline you already track wherever your analytics allow.

Ways to work together

Fits your team, not the other way round

AEO usually sits inside an existing SEO and content program. You get a written scope, timeline and price before work starts.

Assessment and roadmap

A baseline, gap analysis and prioritised plan your team can run with.

Ongoing AEO program

Testing, content and technical work, and reporting over time, alongside your SEO.

Support for your team

Advice, reviews and testing for an in house SEO or content team doing the work.

What progress depends on

  • CMS access or a contact who can publish
  • Developer time for technical changes
  • Subject experts to check product claims
  • Timely approvals from marketing and product

FAQ

Questions about AEO for SaaS

Answer Engine Optimisation for software companies. It means making your product, expertise and content easy for AI answer engines to find, understand and reference when buyers ask questions, alongside your normal SEO.

It overlaps heavily. Crawlable, indexed, well written pages matter for both. AEO adds testing real buyer questions in answer engines, tightening how your product is described, and keeping facts consistent across sources.

There’s no single agreed definition. We use AEO for being the clear answer to specific questions, and GEO for how generative assistants describe your category and which sources they draw on. The work overlaps, and many programs combine them.

No. Each engine decides what to show, answers vary between runs, and none of them publish a formula. Anyone guaranteeing placement is guessing. We commit to clear work and honest tracking.

We agree the list with you based on where your buyers search. It usually includes Google’s AI features and one or more AI assistants with search. Each works differently, so we report them separately.

Structured data can help search engines understand pages when it matches visible content and follows guidelines. Google says no special schema or AI text files are needed for its AI features, so we don’t treat either as a shortcut.

With a documented question set, agreed engines, logged test conditions and repeated runs, reported next to search and conversion data. We separate what we observed from what we can prove caused it.

No. AEO works best inside your current program. We can work with your SEO and content team, or alongside our own SaaS SEO and content writing services.

Either, depending on scope. We can give page by page recommendations, write the updates ourselves, or review your team’s drafts. Product claims are always checked by your experts.

Usually Search Console, analytics, CMS or site access for review, and time with someone who knows the product. Developer time is needed for technical changes.

It depends on what needs fixing, how fast changes ship, and how often engines refresh what they show. We don’t promise timelines. We report against the baseline so you can see what has and hasn’t moved.

It depends on the size of your site, the number of products and markets, and whether we implement or advise. You get a written scope, timeline and price before work starts.
